2. Description of Service

Orate is a comprehensive text-to-speech web application that converts written content into high-quality audio using various text-to-speech APIs and neural voice technologies.

Our Service Includes:

  • Text-to-speech conversion using premium neural voices
  • Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) API integration
  • Access to a curated library of public domain books
  • Audio library management and organization tools
  • Cross-platform accessibility features

3. User Accounts and Responsibilities

3.1 Account Creation

You must create an account to access certain features of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

3.2 Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.3 Account Security

You are solely responsible for safeguarding your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

4. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) Policy

You are fully responsible for your API keys and any charges incurred through their use.

4.1 API Key Security

You are solely responsible for the security and proper use of your API keys. You must keep your API keys confidential and not share them with unauthorized parties.

4.2 Financial Responsibility

You are solely responsible for any charges incurred through the use of your API keys. Orate provides usage estimates for informational purposes only and is not liable for discrepancies between estimated and actual usage or charges.

4.3 Third-Party Compliance

You agree to comply with all terms and conditions of third-party API providers whose services you access through our Service.

5. User Content and Intellectual Property

5.1 Your Content Rights

You retain all rights to any content you submit, post, or display on or through the Service. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to use and convert any content you submit.

5.2 License to Orate

By submitting content, you grant Orate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, process, and convert the content solely for the purpose of providing our text-to-speech services to you.

5.3 Public Domain Library

Orate provides access to a curated library of works believed to be in the public domain. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee the copyright status of these works. Users are responsible for verifying copyright status before use.

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon the rights of others
  • Distribute malicious software or content
  • Interfere with the Service's integrity or performance
  • Generate content that is harmful, offensive, or illegal
  • Circumvent security measures or access controls
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Orate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, under our sole discretion, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. We will make reasonable efforts to provide you with access to your data for export, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect.

Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Orate operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law.
